About Padel Plant
One of the most unique padel venues on the East Coast, Padel Plant transforms a 124-year-old abandoned hydroelectric power plant into a vibrant sports and social destination. Located along Richmond's scenic Canal Walk, this 30,000 square-foot facility opened in January 2025 as one of the largest padel clubs operating on the eastern seaboard.
The Courts
Padel Plant features 5 indoor padel courts with incredibly lob-friendly 35-foot ceilings—perfect for the sport's signature overhead shots. The historic industrial architecture creates an atmosphere unlike any other padel facility in the country. Two pickleball courts round out the offerings.
Historic Setting
The 19,000 square-foot former hydroelectric plant sat shuttered for over 50 years before developers transformed it into this destination club. The building's original character remains largely intact, with colorful murals lining the Canal Walk of the Shockoe Slip Historic District.
Full-Service Experience
Beyond the courts, Padel Plant offers a full kitchen, bar, and café—making it a complete social destination. Whether you're celebrating a victory or just hanging with friends, the hospitality matches the playing experience.
