About The Heights Racquet & Social Club

Minnesota's first padel courts opened in December 2023 when three business leaders—Chris Hilger (Securian CEO), Glenn Baron (real estate investor), and John Lonnquist (investment banker)—transformed a 26,000-square-foot Mendota Heights warehouse into a premier multi-sport racquet club.

The founders met playing squash at St. Paul's Commodore Squash Club. When that property faced potential sale, they saw an opportunity to create something new—a modern facility combining squash, padel, and pickleball with a genuine social club atmosphere.

The Courts

The Heights features 3 indoor padel courts—Minnesota's only dedicated padel venue. The converted warehouse provides high ceilings essential for padel play, with weatherproof indoor courts allowing year-round competition regardless of the harsh Minnesota winters. The facility also includes 6 pickleball courts and 4 squash courts (3 singles, 1 doubles).

Programs & Community

General Manager Sheldon Vaz leads a welcoming community that emphasizes both competition and connection. The club operates on a membership model with tiers for padel/squash access or all-sports access. Regular social events and opportunities to meet fellow players are hallmarks of The Heights experience.

Beyond the courts, The Heights offers a full workout facility, locker rooms with saunas, and a spacious lounge overlooking the courts with pool table, ping pong, and foosball. The setting is designed as much for socializing as for sport.

Location & Getting There

The Heights is located at 1415 Mendota Heights Road in Mendota Heights, a southern suburb of the Twin Cities. The former Lancer Hospitality headquarters offers ample parking and easy highway access.
